Nina Antonia (Liverpool, 1960) is a former music journalist, who has contributed to Uncut, Mojo, Classic Rock and Record Collector. Her first and best known book\u00a0Johnny Thunders \u2013 In Cold Blood<\/a><\/em>\u00a0is currently being made into a feature film, with\u00a0Jonas Akerlund\u00a0<\/a>set to direct. Johnny described Nina as \u2018The smartest chick I\u2019ve ever met.\u2019 Of her book\u00a0The New York Dolls \u2013 Too Much Too Soon<\/a><\/em>\u00a0<\/em><\/a>(Omnibus, 1998), Uncut magazine commented \u2018Nina Antonia makes a fascinating story irresistible.\u2019 Antonia is also featured in the Sundance Film Festival\u2019s nominated documentary\u00a0New York Doll<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0about Arthur \u201cKiller\u201d Kane alongside Morrissey, Mick Jones, David Johansen, Clem Burke, and Iggy Pop and Nina appears in Danny Garcia\u2019s poignant documentary\u00a0Looking For Johnny<\/a><\/strong>. As well as appearing on Radio One and\u00a0Radio Six<\/a>, Nina has performed at spoken word events and enjoyed a retrospective of her work at the\u00a0Barbican<\/a>\u00a0curated by Jay Clifton. Jay Clifton commented that \u2018The special value of Nina\u2019s oeuvre lies not so much in her subjects, but in her personal commitment to both the documentation of them and a search for the truth about both their character and their cultural significance. Like the best writers, she begins from personal fascinations. But with a balance of personal feelings and objective contemplation, combined with a fluid literary style, she writes books that resonate beyond the parameters of the surface material.\u2019 Nina lectured on\u00a0Glam<\/a>\u00a0at Tate Liverpool in 2013 which can be seen via YouTube in\u00a0Parts 1<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a02<\/a>.\u00a0In 2016, Nina had her first supernatural piece\u00a0South-West 13<\/em>\u00a0published in an Egaeus Press anthology\u00a0Soliloquy for Pan<\/em><\/a>\u00a0which sold out within days. She has continued to contribute to Egaeus, penning a novella length essay\u00a0How Shall Dead Men Sing<\/a><\/em>about Lord Alfred Douglas and Oscar Wilde. Another essay\u00a0Bosie and The Beast<\/em>appeared in\u00a0Fenris Wolf 8<\/a><\/em>\u00a0in 2017. Nina\u2019s first supernatural novel\u00a0The Greenwood Faun<\/a><\/em>\u00a0is available for purchase via Egaeus. In 2019, Nina edited and wrote an essay for\u00a0Incurable: The Haunted Writings of Lionel Johnson, the Decadent Era\u2019s Dark Angel<\/a><\/em>. She also contributed to\u00a0The Far Tower: Stories for W.B. Yeats<\/a><\/em>\u00a0with this essay\u00a0The Hosts of the Air\u00a0<\/em>by\u00a0Swan River Press<\/a>.
